Installing the .NET Agent

Installing APM+ for .NET is a simple process to get started profiling your code. You have two options for enabling APM+:

  1. At the time that you install your Stackify Agent
  2. Enable APM+ on a server that already has an Agent installed, but hasn't yet had APM+ turned on for that device

If you need more info about installing the Stackify Agent for Windows, you can find more detailed information here.

Note: Until IIS restarts, no APM+ profiling will be performed. Read more about it below.

Enabling APM+ During Agent Installation

Enabling APM+ During Agent Installation

At the time of installing the Stackify Agent on your device, you will be prompted to enable APM+. Simply leave the checkbox checked in order for the Stackify APM+ profiler to attach to your IIS web apps on this device.

Choosing When to Restart IIS

Choosing When to Restart IIS

Enabling the APM+ profiler will require a restart of IIS. At this point, you can choose to have Stackify restart IIS automatically, which will occur during the Agent installation process, or you can instruct the installer not to restart IIS, and the APM+ profiler will begin profiling your applications the next time IIS is restarted.

Note: Until IIS restarts, no APM+ profiling will be performed.

Enabling APM+ on Existing Servers

Enabling APM+ on Existing Servers

If you have already installed an Agent on a server but didn't enable APM+ at that time, you can simply go to the appropriate server and enable CLR Profiling. To do this go to the settings icon to the right of the server, and go to Server Settings.

From Server Settings, you can simply click Enable CLR APM+.

Note: By enabling CLR Profiling in the Server Settings window, IIS on that server will be restarted automatically.

Advanced Installation Options

For optional installation paths, like installing from the command line, delaying IIS restart, and more, please see the Advanced APM+ Installation Options documentation.
